# Nexus — Turning One Operator Into an Executive Team of Agents
### AI Hub Build Session · Brendan Hsu · 2026-09-12

> How Brendan Hsu wired his whole consulting empire — proposals, event sites, CRMs, cold-call
> training — into one Slack-native system of specialist agents, and turned it into a $50k
> enterprise product doing $100k in sales in a single day. This is the members' build session:
> the system, the moves, and how to install your own.

## The one idea
**The tech isn't the moat — the plumbing and the operator are.** Anyone can open a ChatGPT
account and think they're a genius overnight. What actually wins is connecting everything —
comms, memory, tools, docs — into one harness so an agent can *act* like an employee, not just
answer questions. "Once you have good plumbing, you just open the faucet and the water runs."

---

## Lesson 1 — The Problem: siloed teams, scattered tools (5 min)
Brendan ran a consultancy stitched together from Canva (assets), Wix (sites), Monday.com
(PM), Slack (comms) — all fragmented. The team was siloed, communication scattered, nothing
truly connected. n8n/Zapier "zapping stuff around" kept breaking. **The real bottleneck in
most companies isn't intelligence — it's integration.** Big companies struggle with the exact
same thing, which is *why enterprise integration is the opportunity.*

## Lesson 2 — The Harness: Hermes + model-agnostic core (6 min)
The fix was a harness — **Hermes** (installed for him by Byram) — that connects everything and
behaves agentically. Mental model: **Hermes is the chassis of the car.** The engine (the
daily-driver model) is ChatGPT via OAuth (cheap) with **OpenRouter** as fallback; local models
at scale. Swap engines anytime — the plumbing was built API-first so nothing is locked to one
model. "Even if it's not broken, you want to make it easy to swap in the new thing." Be
**model-agnostic.**

## Lesson 3 — The Citadel: an executive team of specialist agents (7 min)
Under one primary driver, a bench of specialist agents — Brendan calls it **the Citadel**
(product name: **Nexus**):
- **Atlas** — CTO / primary driver
- **Athena** — CEO · **Mars** — COO · **Metis** — research
- **Mercury** — sales director · **Midas** — CFO / contracts
- **Apollo** — marketing · **Iris** — design · **Venus** — partnerships
Each agent was instructed to find the thought leaders of its domain and ingest that knowledge
base — so it advises, structures, and gives feedback like a specialist, and sharpens over time
because it's connected to everything.

## Lesson 4 — Multiplayer: the team lives in Slack (5 min)
Adoption is the second layer (after infrastructure). Make it **multiplayer**: each team member
gets their own Slack channel; the relevant agents live in the channels; you tag the agent you
need. Slack because "it's easier to give someone a steering wheel than tell them to use a
joystick" — meet the team where they already are. Everything runs on **OAuth** ("we just told
Hermes to set it up with OAuth"). Also reachable on Telegram + WhatsApp.

## Lesson 5 — What it actually built (live demo highlights) (9 min)
All produced agentically, mostly from prompts + screenshots:
- **JV proposals** with brand kit / style / voice baked in and **cash-on-cash return
  visualizations** — one closed a **$170k investment** (video-editing agency, 60 editors,
  $0→$200k/mo in 9 months). "This is a no-brainer."
- **Financial models** — pulled P&Ls, year-over-year projections, seasonality, interactive.
- **Event / mastermind websites** — agents read the old Canva sites + Google Drive, pulled
images, testimonials, speaker links, custom effects from screenshots. Video via **Mux**
("tell it to put a button in the player and it builds it"). This site closed a **$25k
  sponsorship**.
- **Ticketing + payments** — per-speaker Stripe links with coupons + attribution (affiliate
payouts), built in a few prompts (used Codex for the fiddly bits). Used to take 4 hours and
  still came out wrong.
- **CRM** — screenshotted the old one, rebuilt connected to Stripe in ~10 prompts.
- **Member on-ramp** — phone sign-in (Twilio 6-digit), attendee directory, opt-in public
  profiles, even Airbnb room-matching.
- **Project tracker** (acrepartner.com) — every output organized by company + team member.
- **Client-facing agents** — clients tag the agent for advice; coaches prep with it before
meetings ("I think the agent's consulting better than us"); auto 30/60/90-day roadmaps.

## Lesson 6 — OnQ: the voice agent (separate product) (5 min)
**OnQ** is a distinct product: a sales **voice agent** (11Labs voice + their memory systems +
custom workflows). Runs cold-call scenarios, **scores calls live**, flags who needs training,
feeds a board — and with enough data, replaces the human layer. Replaces an $80k sales manager
+ expensive ramp. Pricing $5–$20 / seat; example **$5 × 6,000 seats = $30k/mo ($360k/yr)** —
targeting a partner with access to 60,000 contracted life-insurance sales seats.

## Lesson 7 — The money model + JV playbook (7 min)
- **Enterprise deal:** $50k build (game up a 23–27-person team, multiplayer, in real time) +
**$5k/mo** managed (best practices, cutting-edge tools, orchestration their CTO can't match).
- **The $100k day / first JV:** a financial-consulting client ($600k/mo profit; "50k is a drop
in the bucket") with 100+ clients → JV to resell: big upfront, 50/50 profit share, ~25%
  lifetime rev share, 50% gross-margin target. "100 clients × $30k up front + $3k retainer =
well over seven figures upside for every party."
- **The ROI frame that closes:** "10% more productivity from a team you pay millions to — 10%
of $5M is $500k. That's a 10x ROI year one, before the enterprise value of the AI asset."
- **The long game:** industry-specific agentic **software layer** (build tools on top) +
agent layer + **growth-partner layer** (equity in every business). Real-estate-media managed
  services alone: 300 locations × $300k = **$90M top line → ~$10M/yr profit** off one industry.
- **Positioning rule:** to win you need premium authority + genuinely wealthy clients. If you
don't have both, **partner with someone who does.** Business is arbitrage: rich clients +
skilled people. "Bet on the jockey." Give away 20–50% equity to attract the best players.

## Recap → now build it
The stack is replaceable; the *system thinking* is the asset: good plumbing, an executive team
of agents, multiplayer adoption, and an operator who knows exactly what they want. **Next: the
